Bus tickets are sold at the ticket desk next to check-in, in the TEP app or on board: just tap a contactless card on the validator. Each card buys only one ticket, so a couple will need two cards or should buy tickets in the app in advance. Weekly markets are held under the canopy of Piazza Ghiaia: antiques and vintage on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 19:00, and crafts and handmade goods on Fridays (except in July and August). Before Christmas, the same spot hosts a Christmas market with produce from local farms.

Unusual dates for a trip to Parma

The biggest event of the year takes place in October. In 2026, the Festival Verdi runs from 1 to 25 October at the Teatro Regio in Parma and the Teatro Verdi in Busseto, the composer's home town, about 40 km away. The 2026 programme includes Nabucco, Alzira, Zeffirelli's production of Aida and the Messa da Requiem. Opera tickets sell out before flights do, so the order is simple: book the performance first, then the flight.

December is another good time, when the Christmas market opens under the canopy of Piazza Ghiaia. In winter, however, there are fewer Chisinau to Parma flights, so check the dates in the calendar before you make plans.
