Passengers with Reduced Mobility

All services published on the website, displayed in the office and/or through ZBOR.MD software, are subject to the availability of Service Providers, their terms and conditions of carriage (including the rules for passenger transport imposed by airlines) and will additionally apply to the Terms and Conditions stipulated by ZBOR.MD.

The Service Providers' terms may include provisions regarding different boarding procedures, obligations (if applicable), or other types of restrictions. ZBOR.MD is not responsible for the introduction of these rules but out of concern for its customers, to prevent and eliminate discrimination and ensure equality for persons with special needs, informs you as follows.

Your transportation contract with the airline that provides your air transportation, international, domestic, or an internal part of an international journey is subject to this notice, any individual notifications or conditions of the carrier, applicable regulations, standards, and policies.

It is the carrier's right to refuse transportation to passengers who do not comply with applicable legislation or who do not timely present all necessary travel documents and information regarding special needs.

Acceptance for travel of persons with disabilities is based on the following factors:

  • The ability of the Handling agent to provide such services (necessary equipment, trained staff).
  • Limitations (i.e., the maximum PMR limits onboard the type of aircraft, acceptance onboard of certain categories of PMR).

To ensure the comfort of travel for persons with disabilities, several factors must be considered, such as the person's health condition, requested equipment, involved air carriers, maximum limitations for types of aircraft.

In this regard, any special service for persons with disabilities must be requested no later than 72 hours before the flight to allow the carrier to organize and finalize the necessary arrangements. Usually, these requests are declared to the agent at the time of booking the ticket, who enters the necessary information in the passenger's reservation. Failure to comply with this rule may lead to cancellation of the flight reservation by the airline.

For persons suffering from certain diseases and are considered medical cases, airlines will request medical data about the passenger's health condition. A special MEDIF form must be filled out by the passenger's treating physician and sent to the company.

The forms can be found on the official web pages of the airlines operating the specific flight or can be requested through the agent at the time of booking the ticket. After being filled out by the treating physician, the forms must be sent to an email address that can be found on the official web pages of the airlines operating the specific flight or can be sent through the agent who made the reservation.

Please inform us about the extent of your mobility reduction. There are three internationally recognized categories of wheelchairs to determine the degree of disability:

  • WCHR - Wheelchair Ramp: The passenger requests the wheelchair only for covering long distances; they are capable of climbing stairs without assistance.
  • WCHS - Wheelchair Steps: The passenger cannot climb stairs but can walk short distances on their own.
  • WCHC - Wheelchair Cabin: The passenger requires constant assistance, cannot move onboard without another person's help - their own wheelchair is always needed.

If you travel with your wheelchair, please inform us about its weight, dimensions, and other special features (e.g., foldable/non-foldable, sports/electrically powered, etc.).

Battery-powered wheelchairs are accepted for transportation by airlines under special conditions. Batteries that cannot spill (dry or gel batteries) can remain attached to the chair but must be secured and disconnected, and terminals must be insulated before boarding the aircraft. Wheelchairs with wet or Lithium batteries are not accepted for transportation.

Transportation of mobility equipment (wheelchair, crutches, other assistive devices) for persons with reduced mobility is free of charge. It is only transported in the hold.

Passengers with Partial Hearing or Vision Impairments

The passenger must inform at the time of booking about their impairment, to transmit the information to the airline which will organize the necessary assistance. A medical certificate is not required for passengers with hearing or visual impairments.

Passengers with multiple sensory impairments (visual and hearing) will need to be accompanied during the flight.

Passengers with reduced mobility or sensory perception impairments may express their preference for the seat onboard, but for safety reasons, these may be restricted to certain rows or seats (e.g., rows with emergency exits).

Passengers with vision and hearing impairments may be accompanied by guide animals (dogs). The transportation of service dogs is accepted free of charge. Passengers traveling with service dogs will inform at the time of booking.

Conditions for accepting service dogs for flight:

  • weight and size may be restricted
  • the passenger must possess a certificate confirming the "Guide Animal" status
  • the animal is not allowed to move around the aircraft
  • the animal is not allowed to occupy a seat
  • the animal must be muzzled and leashed

ZBOR.MD is not responsible and cannot be held liable for the passenger not flying or being denied boarding if the passenger did not timely provide information about their special needs.

If your journey involves transportation with different carriers, you should inquire from each carrier about the rules applied to persons with special needs.
