Getting to the city center
The AREX Express train runs nonstop from Terminal 1 to Seoul Station in 43 minutes (add 8 minutes from Terminal 2). There's also the AREX All-Stop train, which makes 13 stops — including Gimpo Airport and Hongik University — and takes 59-60 minutes, but costs less. Tickets are sold at airport counters and machines, or in advance online. Passengers taking AREX to the airport can check in for their flight at Seoul Station's in-town terminal.

City at a glance
Seoul is the capital of South Korea. The Han River splits the city into northern and southern sections. Administratively, Seoul is made up of 25 districts (gu), further divided into 426 smaller units (dong). The city proper has a population of roughly 9.66 million (2023 figures) across about 605 square kilometers. Besides Incheon, Seoul is also served by Gimpo Airport, about 15 kilometers west of downtown, used mainly for domestic flights and short-haul international routes.
The connection between Incheon Airport and downtown Seoul is direct and consistent in duration, which makes planning the first leg of a trip fairly straightforward. The rest — from the time difference to a transit card — can be sorted out ahead of departure.
