Frequently asked questions
Eindhoven is served by Eindhoven Airport, IATA code EIN, ICAO code EHEH. The airport is located around 8 km west of Eindhoven city centre and is the second busiest airport in the Netherlands after Amsterdam Schiphol, with 6.96 million passengers in 2025. It is a mixed civilian and military airport, operated in partnership with the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The complex has a single modern two-level terminal: the ground floor with arrivals, departures, check-in desks, security, shops, and restaurants, and the first floor with additional restaurants, Starbucks, the Aspire Lounge, and more boarding gates. It is the main base for low-cost carriers Ryanair, Transavia (KLM subsidiary), Wizz Air, TUI Fly, and Corendon, with direct flights to around 79 destinations in 25 countries, mainly European holiday destinations: Málaga, Alicante, London, Lisbon, Barcelona, Ibiza, Istanbul, Budapest. A major terminal expansion project is underway with completion planned for 2027. The airport will be completely closed from February to July 2027 for runway renovation. Book your ticket and land in the Dutch capital of design.
The airport is 8 km from Eindhoven city centre, and the journey takes around 15 to 20 minutes. Bravo Bus Line 401 is the most economical transport option, with departures every 15 minutes at a fare of around €5, reaching Eindhoven Central Station in around 30 minutes. There is no direct train link to the airport: all public transport connections require a bus journey to Central Station first. Taxis are available at the terminal exit 24/7 with fares of around €25 and a journey of 15 to 20 minutes. Uber and Bolt are available on the departures level alongside regular taxis. Car rental is available at the airport with all major operators. From Eindhoven Centraal, there are direct train connections to Amsterdam (1 hour 15 minutes), Rotterdam, Utrecht, and other Dutch cities. The airport is undergoing terminal expansion (2024 to 2027): expect some temporary inconvenience in the access area. Book your ticket and plan your arrival in Eindhoven, the Dutch capital of design and innovation.
Eindhoven is a safe destination for tourists. The Netherlands holds a Level 2 advisory from the US State Department (exercise increased caution) due to the general terrorism risk in Europe, not due to tourist crime. Eindhoven has a Numbeo crime index of 21.49, one of the lowest values, and 94 out of 100 residents and visitors feel completely safe during the day. Violence against tourists is extremely rare: the Netherlands is one of the safest destinations in Europe. The main risks for tourists are pickpocketing in crowded areas and on public transport, unofficial taxis without a meter near the airport or Central Station, and occasional scams in the tourist area. Cycling is the main mode of transport in Eindhoven: be careful of bike lanes, which are separate and have priority over pedestrians. Eindhoven is the birthplace of Philips and hosts the Dutch Design Week (the largest design festival in Northern Europe, October). Amsterdam is 1 hour 15 minutes by train. Tap water is safe to drink. Book your ticket and discover the Dutch capital of technology and design.
