Flights from cities from Moldova to Split
Frequently asked questions
Split is served by Split Saint Jerome International Airport, IATA code SPU, ICAO code LDSP. The airport is located in the town of Kaštela, around 24 km west of Split city centre, on the western shore of Kaštela Bay, near Trogir. It is the second busiest airport in Croatia after Zagreb, handling 3.9 million passengers in 2025. The complex was significantly expanded in 2019, tripling the terminal area to a capacity of 5 million passengers per year, with a fully modernised arrivals and baggage area, 900-space car park, pedestrian bridge, and new bus station. The airport has a single terminal and a single runway of 2,550 m, with no jet bridges (passengers walk to the aircraft). It operates direct flights to major European cities with Croatia Airlines, Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, Eurowings, Jet2, British Airways, and others, especially during the summer season. Book your ticket and land on the pearl of the Adriatic.
The airport is around 24 km from Split city centre, and the journey takes around 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. The express bus operated by Pleso Prijevoz together with Promet Split connects the airport to Split's main bus station (adjacent to Diocletian's Palace and the port) for around 5 euros, synchronised with arrivals, with a journey time of around 40 minutes. Official taxis are available at the arrivals exit and reach the centre in around 30 minutes; the fare is around 300 to 400 kuna (40 to 55 euros). Uber and Bolt apps are available in Split and offer a fixed fare displayed upfront, a more economical and transparent option than street taxis. Avoid unofficial taxis that offer rides at the exit: always ask the price beforehand or use an app. Car rental is available at the airport. Plan for significant journey extensions in July and August due to heavy traffic. Book your ticket and plan your transfer in advance.
Split and Croatia in general are very safe destinations. The US State Department gives Croatia a Level 1 advisory, the lowest possible, and Croatia ranked 19th out of 163 on the Global Peace Index 2025. Violence against tourists is extremely rare, and Split ranked among the top 15 safest cities in Croatia. The old town with Diocletian's Palace and the Riva promenade are well patrolled and safe at all hours. The main risks are pickpocketing in crowded areas, overcharging by unofficial taxis, and scams in adult clubs that charge inflated prices and may threaten reluctant customers. In Split and other popular tourist areas, police can issue on-the-spot fines for inappropriate behaviour, including walking shirtless or in swimwear outside the beach, drinking alcohol in public spaces, and disorderly conduct. The summer season July to August can be extremely crowded with intense heat. Book your ticket and discover the world's most beautiful Roman palace.
