Everything You Need to Know Before Flying with a Pet

Required documents:

◾️ pet passport;

◾️ health certificate;

◾️ vaccination certificate.

The pet must be electronically identified by a microchip or a visible tattoo. It must be clean, healthy, harmless, not pregnant, and must not disturb other passengers.

The reservation for the pet must be made at least 72 hours before departure, using the PETC code, and must include its weight and dimensions. Transportation is carried out in the cabin or, in certain cases, in the cargo hold.

Transport in the aircraft cargo hold

Pets that cannot be accepted in the cabin are transported in the cargo hold if the carrier is suitable. Transport is not included in checked baggage and is subject to a fee.

Crate requirements:

◾️ maximum 50 kg

◾️ dimensions: 75 × 75 × 125 cm

◾️ rigid structure (soft materials are NOT accepted)

◾️ ventilated, waterproof, and secure

◾️ spacious enough for movement

For flights longer than 8 hours or layovers over 4 hours:

◾️ food

◾️ automatic water container

◾️ attached instructions

◾️ identification label

❗ Pets with respiratory problems are not accepted in the cargo hold.

Breeds with special conditions

Cats and dogs with flat faces may be accepted only in the cabin if they meet the limits.

If not, they may be transported only as cargo (AVI), not together with the passenger.

Breeds considered dangerous may be transported only in the cargo hold if accepted by the airline.

Transport of multiple pets

◾️ 2 dogs (max. 14 kg each) may travel together

◾️ 2 cats (max. 10 kg each)

◾️ up to 3 puppies (10–24 weeks) from the same litter

Pets over 14 kg → individual transport.

Important special rules

If a passenger declares an allergy and provides a medical certificate:

◾️ passengers with service dogs have priority and do not require reservation

◾️ between an allergic passenger and one with a pet → priority depends on booking order

Exceptions:

◾️ on domestic flights in the USA

◾️ service dogs have priority over allergic passengers

Rules for puppies and pregnant animals

Veterinary approval is required for:

◾️ puppies under 10 weeks or not weaned

◾️ puppies between 10–12 weeks

◾️ nursing mothers

❗ Pregnant pets are NOT accepted for transport.

Passenger responsibility

The passenger is responsible for:

◾️ the health and safety of the pet

◾️ compliance with all legal regulations

◾️ required documents

◾️ restrictions imposed by destination countries

Restrictions regarding types of animals

◾️ cats and dogs or cats and birds cannot travel on the same aircraft

Where you CANNOT travel with your pet from the Republic of Moldova

❌ Prohibited destinations: United Kingdom, Ireland, Bilbao

⚠️ Destinations with strict rules:

United States of America

◾️ strict rules (CDC)

◾️ required: vaccinations, microchip, full documentation

◾️ sometimes limited access at certain airports

Canada

◾️ allowed only for personal use

◾️ commercial transport is NOT accepted

Before traveling:

✔️ check destination country rules

✔️ confirm with the airline

✔️ prepare all documents
