Baggage Rules

This is the most common question among passengers. Transavia strictly monitors dimensions, so carefully review the table before your flight.

Hand Luggage

The rules depend on the fare you selected at the time of booking.

Important: If you haven’t paid for overhead bin space (Cabin Bag), your bag may be taken to the hold at the gate for an additional fee (around €45) if overhead space runs out. Guaranteed cabin placement is only possible with a fare including priority boarding.

Checked Baggage (Hold Luggage)

Baggage is not included in the basic fare (Basic) and must be purchased separately.

  • Available weight options: 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50 kg.
  • Maximum weight of one suitcase: 32 kg.
  • Cost: Dynamic, depends on route and purchase timing.
    • 15 kg — from €18 to €35 (online).
    • 20 kg — from €23 to €40 (online).
    • At the airport prices are significantly higher (from €45 for 15 kg).

Common Baggage Questions

  1. Sports Equipment:
    Transporting skis, a snowboard, golf bag or bicycle costs a fixed €45 (per flight) if paid online. Max weight — 15 kg (golf) and 32 kg (bike/skis).
  2. Liquids and laptops:
    Liquids — up to 100 ml per container, inside a transparent bag. Laptops and tablets must be removed from bags at security.

Check-in

To avoid fees at the airport, follow these rules:

  • Online check-in opens: 30 hours before departure.
  • Online check-in closes: 4 hours or 1 hour before departure (depending on the airport).
  • Boarding pass: Printing is not required. You can download a mobile boarding pass. The QR code must be clear.

Airport check-in:
Unlike many low-cost airlines, Transavia often allows free desk check-in, but it is strongly recommended to check in online. In some airports and fare types, a fee may apply for check-in at the counter (around €10–30). Always check your fare conditions in the confirmation email.

Booking Management and Refunds

Transavia’s rules are strict but transparent.

Changes to the ticket

  • Name/surname corrections:
    • Minor typos (up to 2 letters) that don’t change the passenger’s identity can be corrected.
    • Full name replacement is a paid service (from €50 + fare difference).
  • Change of date/time:
    • Possible for an additional fee: €50 change fee + fare difference if the new ticket is more expensive.
    • With the Max fare, date/time changes are often free (only fare difference applies).

Ticket refunds

  • Fares Basic and Plus are non-refundable. Only airport taxes can be refunded (upon request).
  • If the flight is cancelled by the airline, you are entitled to a full refund or free rebooking (EU261 rules).

What to do if your flight is cancelled:

  1. Wait for the official email from Transavia.
  2. Follow the link in the email to choose between “Refund” or “Voucher”.
  3. If the ticket was purchased via Zbor.md, contact our support immediately — we will handle communication with the airline.

Children, Pets, and Special Services

Traveling with children

  • Infants (under 2 years): Travel on an adult’s lap for a fixed fee (usually €25 per segment).
  • Own seat: Required for children over 2 years old. Paid at full fare.
  • Stroller: Foldable stroller (up to 10 kg) can be checked at the aircraft door/gate.

Unaccompanied minors (UMNR)

Transavia provides assistance for children traveling without adults:

  • Ages 5–11: Service is mandatory.
  • Ages 12–17: Optional upon parents’ request.
  • Cost: €55 per child one-way. Must be booked through the call center or online at least 48 hours before departure.

Transporting animals

Transavia is pet-friendly:

  • In the cabin (PETC): Cats and dogs. Weight including carrier — up to 10 kg (higher than many airlines’ 8 kg limit). Soft carrier max. 40x30x24 cm. Price: from €50.
  • In the hold (AVIH): Weight up to 75 kg. Price: from €77.
  • Important: Space for pets is limited — book immediately after buying the ticket.

Meals

Meals are not included in the ticket price (except in premium fares). On board you can buy sandwiches, snacks, and drinks. Card payment only.
